I saw a one hour documentary on Japanese TV tonight about the rotary engine
development team as well as the Renesis.

Quite shocking to know that when Ford took over almost everyone was
transferred out of the rotary design section. The documentary showed many
scenes of the rotary line shut down.  The Renesis engine and the RX-8 came
about from the dedicated efforts of about 10 employees who refused to give
up.  Yamamoto encouraged  them not to give up on the dual side port even
though he had tried that configuration unsuccessfully before.  Designing the
water flow paths and location were critical for their success. A lot of
their work was done in their private time.  I'll see if I can get you a
copy.

Hallelujah to that.  On second thought if there is a way I could get a
copy I may find someone at Honda to get a translation.  I would like to
see it now that Ford is not in control.

There is an Executive VP at American Honda who was a serious Wankel
enthusist many years ago.  He is still there.

Even if the translation is on paper it would be worth seeing.  At the
opera this is the norm.
