Hello, my name is Ron Simard and I am in the process of building an NXT,
I expect delivery of kit #7 in early March.

 For your info I am originally from Canada, now living in in Panama. I
have built three Glasair III's and a IIS . Presently have my Glasair III
here in Panama. I have a B.Sc in mechanical engineering and a history of
engine building in aircraft and cars!

I have been considering the IO 720 for the NXT, but over the last few a
days a friend has motivated me to look at Rotary technology! Very
impressive!

As a drag racer back in the mid to late 70's I used to watch a rotary
powered Mazda race in NHRA Division 6 and can remember there success and
the noise!

I have sent email to Paul Yaw re a four rotor and also Guru in
Australia,just to see what
is available and at what cost.

While the engines seem more than capable of 450 to 500 hp continuous the
PSRU's seem to be the weak link!

 I have communicated with Francois Badoux at Mistral  re his package
which is limited to 400 hp continuous by the psru.

 However, I have located an original new Paul Ross unit rated for 600hp
for a V6 Indy Buick engine, that could be adapted to the rotary. I would
have to subject this the 5 or 10 hours of full power running on a test
stand and then inspect it before I would fly behind it! So this adds a
lot of extra concern and effort over the 720 Lycoming.

My NXT will be used for cross country travel and sport flying and is
just a passion for me as are all things fast!

Your site has been my inspiration over the past week and I thought I
would email you and join the newsletter if I could, to try and gain as
much insight into this rotary option as possible.

Any advice or comments you may have would be appreciated!

You are just the guy we are looking for Ron. Check with the Reno
organizers as I think they have already limited us to 3 rotor turbo
but 1200 HP ought to be plenty.

Also check with Jim Mederer at Racing Beat as they have far more experience
with 1200 HP turbo 3 rotors than Paul Yaw.
