Happy New Year to you all from Mistral!

As Mistral is reviewing some parts of its design for the soon-to-come
3-rotor models,  I'd like to submit the following topics for an informal
   group brainstorming:

1). What do you think of dry vs wet oil sump? All comments and
   suggestions
   welcome

2). As it is impractical, if not impossible, to make a fully aerobatic
rotary engine on the basis of a Mazda block, what level of "limited"
aerobatics capabilities is acceptable/wished for?  I am especially
   concerned
with vertical or near vertical manoeuvres... tricky situations for
   rotaries...

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Francois,
I am currently building an Acroduster Too (biplane) and have a 20B
setting on the bench. It is my opinion that the only way to have a good
oil system is with a dry sump scavenge system. I see no problem with
vertical maneuvers since there can be a pickup anywhere we feel needed.
Of more concern to me is inverted flight, however, in my case, I have no
plans to be upside down for more than a few minutes at a time so I there
should be no problem there. Even if inverted oil was not scavenged there
will be plenty of oil in the tank to keep the engine properly lubed.
I would like to hear more about your concerns.
It's good to hear you are thinking aerobatics!
Ben
