In the past there have been examples of using aluminum tubing for routing
water lines and then using short flexible hose coupling to connect the ends
to the water pump and radiators (see photo). Are there any reasons not to
use copper lines instead of aluminum? With copper, you can obtain cast
fittings that allow you to easily route the tubing and they can be soldered
instead of welded.

You need to keep the diameter up to about 1 3/8" or more to keep the flow
going without loading down the water pump too much. 1 3/8" copper would
be rather heavy. If you don't mind the weight I see no reason why not.
You will still need hose and hose clamps to and from the pump
and to and from the rad. Make sure you have good hose barbs whereever
you have hose connection and constant torque hose clamps.
