Paul
I would like to try your tube templates . Let me now what you need for
dimensions and I'll get it to you.If I remember correctly you where
thinking of $20 or so ,let me know.I am anxious to get the engine mount
done and move on to cooling.
Thanks ,
Geir
Just double check these dimensions and load the jpgs into MS Paint and
correct them in MS Paint. Save the jpgs and email them back
to me. Then I will need your mailing address by private email.
Just put the word private in the subject box.
I will then mail you back the full size paper patterns that you can cut
out and
wrap around the tubes before you grind or cut them.
Silver pencil works well for marking 4130 steel.
BTW when responding to emails please forward quote including the old
emails as it is sometimes hard to figure what has been said if several
days have passed.

Geir,
I just remembered we had these dwgs. Do you recall discussing installing
the extra lower hard points on the firewall? Still check the hard
point dimensions to be really sure. What size mm bolts go through
the firewall?
Looks like a right thrust angle of 1.3 degrees. Is that correct?
Not much.
Also what Ross PSRU ratio do you have. Check by rotating the prop
360 degrees and see how far the e-shaft pulley rotates?
My guesss is it will be 2.17:1. That means you have an opposite
rotation prop. That will change the correct thrust angle from
right to left looking down from the top.

Paul,
I am doing final setup on thrust line and offset today in prep for
starting tubes will get back to you asap. Murphy suggests 0 to 1
degrees offset to the right for 180 HP Lycoming install. Prop rotation
is clockwise with Ross drive. If my thinking is correct offset should be
to the right. Murphy uses the firewall to prop flange for a reference to
set offset , is this typical for all aircraft. What is your suggestion
on amount of offset.
Geir
Is that clockwise from the pilots view? Or is it clockwise standing in front
of the plane looking back?
Are you going to use your current cowling? If so you must set it in the corner
of a room and determine if the prop hole is symmetrical or off set to one side or
the other? These two dimensions should be the same. Then the off set angle
will start in the center of the prop hole. Very important when designing
the motor mount. Its a mess if the PSRU does not come out in the center
of the hole.

Clockwise from pilots view

OK looks like you have a 2.85:1 Ross with standard prop rotation.
Thats good. Lots of power. OK 1.3 degree thrust line off set to the right is
what we will do. Now you need to check the cowl symmetry and the firewall hard
point dimensions.
Geir please forward quote the old message so I can keep track of what is being
said. Now I have to go back and get the old messages. Hold on a second :) OK
here they are.
