SO, what is the ideal oil pan volume assuming use of stock Mazda  oil cooler.

There is no ideal. The more the better until you can't tolerate the  weight.
The more oil you have the better as it take longer to heat up on  takeoff and
climb out. My 230 HP O-470 has 12 quarts.

Are we still working on the motor mount? I still need those  dimensions.

Geir,  I'd like to add that the main limitation on capacity is room
under the engine.  If you are putting the radiator under the engine,
with the intake plenum between the rad and pan, it is probably going
to get very tight inside the cowl.  I think the stock pans are 5
qts.  People who are flying with stock pans are reporting no problems
that I am aware of but like Paul says, the more the better.       Jerry
