For the stated power potential of the three rotor, the selection of a
Lancair Legacy airframe might be
the wiser course. Daryl has demonstrated that this lower cost, well proven
airframe is not outclassed
by the NXT so far at the Reno races. The magazine "Experimental Aircraft
Technology" in a
recent article described how the stock Legacy was reduced from 1.6 flat
plate to 1.3, and
I seriously doubt that the NXT can significantly better those numbers. They
are admitting to 600 plus horsepower, and the big Lyc is probably running
out of
margin.
Incidently another Subaru powered KIS is in the air - this must make about
six Subarus that
have flown to zero rotaries - What say Paul and Bill?

I think I would be in the same place with a Subaru as I am with the
rotary -- namely locked up with a myriad of small details, only some of
which are engine related. I am finding space
*behind* the firewall very
crowded and a challenge to make a maintenance friendly installation.
