Lets summarise.
Tapers are OK for bending loads but not hot gear boxes. There goes Paul's
idea of attaching the planetary to the prop shaft - I had wanted to use

that

idea! OR does the retainer nut provide sufficient additional retaining? I
suppose it could still spin without a keyway?

Cont Standard Military Engines = 0.200" per Inch (5.08mm :25.4mm) OR  5:1
The .100":1.00" is the same as the Rotax 10:1 @ 30mm, which is a small
engine.
The 1/4" to 1 foot is a 12:1
The 5/8" ( Morse) to 1 foot is a19.2:1
Anyone know the Mazda e-shaft taper?
