Alloy casting side housings

Has anybody actually done this ?

If so what were the results like ?

We don't really know. We got some negative feed back so
I guess the jury is still out.  I have never been able
to nail down Jim Mederer of Racing Beat on exactly what the coating
process is. So long as that is the case I will never
recommend a Wankel engine with wear coatings as we have so
much bad history with wear coatings on Wankel engines.
The rotor housing is steel lined.

Richard Sohn is in the process of developing the ideal
aluminum end housings with cast iron wear surfaces but that is
a year or two or more away.
