   24 volts will create a real healthy arc at any switch contacts as the
   switch is opened.
   24volts is not that far from what you use for arc welding.
   Not a particularly good item ; and likely would require heavy duty
   switchgear ; also why you
   will likely only find 24volts where they are really needed.

   Yes the automotive industry is shying away from 24 Volts for that
   reason.
   Looks good in theory but............

Actually, I believe the auto industry had planned to skip 24v and go all
of the way to 42v..  I think they will get there (using all solid state
switching).  But, I think we should wait to produce a few million units
(and sell them) before we try to chase that technology.
