The stock RX-8 throttle body has an electromechanical control, and the
unit is small and light.  I got one of these with my engine.  I'm not
sure  whether to keep it as a spare for my car, or drill out the rivets
to see if it is amenable to an aircraft version.

Has anyone opened one of these up to see if it is feasible to convert
it to a cable-driven version, or reverse the spring (fail-open) and
'fly it by wire' instead of a mechanical cable?  I hate to destroy the
unit if it is clearly not usable for an a/c engine.
