i am a machinist and can easily regrind both surfaces of my 1988 13b
intermediate housing. it has .004 step on both sides. all other
measurements are in tolerance. is this a workable situation.

Lapping it or grinding it is no problem but it might
go through the nitride surface layer. You should think about
re nitriding it.
