You got to be kidding Jarrett :) Have you not heard of EMC?
http://www.linuxcnc.org/
A major world wide effort.

Oh I've heard of it.. [ I think] :-)  Its just that I'm not a Linux user,
so back when I was doing my research, whenever I read
Linux.. my eye's just kinda glazed over and I went to the
next webpage  :)  I've got to sit down one of these days and
get back to programing and learn more about Linux.
I'm sure the day is coming when it will be more popular
than windows.. at least at the performance rate of windows
but for now.. I'm stuck w/ it [winblows], and learning/getting set-up w/
the cnc stuff that I am, was a big enough hurtle w/out having
to learn a completely new o/s etc.  One of these days though!

Well I keep a Windows computer around for running programs I like
on Windows such as Rhino. If Rhino ever becomes avialble for Linux
I will dump Windoze all together.

Here is one of half a dozen "front ends" for EMC. I like this one
the best so far. 3D tool paths. If you don't like this one there
are five more to choose from.
