One fly in that ointment Doug. The RX8 has the coolant O-ring
slots in the rotor housings and in the 2nd and 3rd gen they are
in the end housings. The only reasonable way to p-port
an RX8 engine is drill big holes in the RX8 rotor housings.
I would try keeping the side exhaust ports for the first
go around. BTW I am not so sure you need the higher two piece
2nd gen apex seals in the RX8 rotors for a P-port RX8 engine.
I suspect the stock RX8 apex seals are fine. I will double check
with the guys a Mazdatrix tomorrow as they are up to date with
the latest tech. BTW The two inch round hole P-port engine
is not as radical as the Racing Beat or the Guru p-port
rotor housings. Those are rectangular with much more port area
than the 2 inch style.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
Doug and Paul,
Doug could use either the Cosmo or 12A end and intermediate housing with the
RX 8 rotor housings.
However the RX 8 rotor apex seal WILL NOT travel over an P-exhaust or P-port
( inlet) as their too thin and will flex so much as to go straight out the
first opening they encounter.
I would use Cosmo or 12A housings, the Cosmo rotor housings (very large
exhaust port) the RX8 rotor with 3mm apex seals ( Tracy's) and if you mange
to fit the Renesis RX8 water pump ( integral to the end housing) to this lot
let me know how it's done as I don't believe anyone has done it to date.
You could use the timing wheel, pulleys and pick-up as well but not much
else - doesn't seem cost effective to me unless you mean to use the RX8 end
and intermediate housings with the inlet and exhaust plugged-up. Then you
could use the water pump.

------------------------------
Use of the Cosmo or 12A front housings will defeat the purpose of
using the RX8 engine to begin with as the RX8 water pump
integrated front cover won't fit the Cosmo or 12A front end
housing.
"However the RX 8 rotor apex seal WILL NOT travel over an P-exhaust or P-port

I don't agree George.
The thickness of the RX8 seal is the same 2 mm as the 2nd gen
and 3rd gen apex seal. There is only .3 mm or so difference
in the height of the top piece of the 2nd gen and 3rd gen
seals. Those passed over the p-exhaust ports for 10 or 13 years.
That .3 mm will not make enough difference to matter.
