I added up all the items on my wish list to order from Mazdatrix for my
P-port engine with Renesis rotors and like I suspected I would better off
buying a Renesis engine from Rupert.  That way I would get to use a lot of
valuable parts like the new water pump, housings, alternator, throttle,
sensors and probably a lot of usable seals as well. I'll get the automatic
version because of the flex plate and less intake holes to fill.

I am thinking of just  replacing the Renesis rotor housings with the 2nd
gen. P ported housings.  For sealing the side exhaust ports my thoughts are
to construct the exhaust manifold onto  a long plate that  covers these
ports.

I haven't thought through the design  yet so feel free to jump in with your
good ideas.  It would be awful nice to have some easily installed plate
inserts to block either the side exhaust ports or the Peripheral exhaust
ports.


Doing the project this way would allow me to do a comparative experiment by
only altering the exhaust gas flow. P port or side port exhaust. Both?
Pretty cool or pretty lame idea ?:)  In any case this would effectively
answer the question about intake P porting a Renesis engine and we wouldn't
need to bore into  Renesis housing to find out.  It will also answer the
question about which exhaust gas flow is better for turbo compound system.

One fly in that ointment Doug. The RX8 has the coolant O-ring
slots in the rotor housings and in the 2nd and 3rd gen they are
in the end housings. The only reasonable way to p-port
an RX8 engine is drill big holes in the RX8 rotor housings.
I would try keeping the side exhaust ports for the first
go around. BTW I am not so sure you need the higher two piece
2nd gen apex seals in the RX8 rotors for a P-port RX8 engine.
I suspect the stock RX8 apex seals are fine. I will double check
with the guys a Mazdatrix tomorrow as they are up to date with
the latest tech. BTW The two inch round hole P-port engine
is not as radical as the Racing Beat or the Guru p-port
rotor housings. Those are rectangular with much more port area
than the 2 inch style.
