I did not know Vance personally, but spoke to him a few times at OSH.
My impression was that of a quiet, unassuming man, with a wealth
of knowledge.

Paul here is a picture I took at Cooperstate 05. Vance gave a seminar on
small jet engines. I reconized Vance as we parked side by each from a
photo
you had posted. We talked for about half an hour in the parking lot. Vance
trulley wanted to pass on his knowledge to help others like my self in
experimental aircraft. Thank You Vance

I'm another one who only knew Vance at a distance. He had some interesting
ideas about ducted fan pods and strong, but careful critical views. He
never claimed to know everything, which is why I suspect that he got a lot
of feedback from the people he corresponded with. I hope that his papers
are being saved and someone who knows what they are looking at will review
them for the family. There are some local colleges in his area who might
benefit from a "Vance Jacqua Memorial Collection".
