Paul,
I've heard you mention several times about the superiority of the Renesis
water pump. Will the 2nd and 3rd gen. improvements you have illustrated
shown increase the flow to equal or exceed the Renesis water pump or for a
300+ P.port should I be looking at installing another exterior mounting
brand X?
DougFir in Japan and watching out for incoming missiles.
Mazda optimized the RX8 pump and took money out of
the impeller by making it stamped sheet metal instead of beautiful
cast iron. They opened up the water path restriction but
then made the impeller smaller and cruder. The RX8 impeller
is also like the 3rd gen impeller. Both show here.

Paul,
OK thanks. I'll hunt down a 3rd gen. water pump to modify.
DougFir
Wait a minute. They rotate in the wrong direction for
a second gen belt drive.

Note the opposite angle of the blades.

Paul,
This is getting funny. Without seeing a picture of the front of a 3rd gen I
can only assume the water pump is an under-driven beast with a serpentine
belt?
Perhaps it is wiser just to modify and improve the 2nd gen pump if its worth
it. That or bold on a Renesis front housing.
DougFir
Yes the third gen water pump is driven from the back side of a
serpentine belt. The RX8 drive is back to the second gen method.
