  One correction. Apple uses a derivative of BSD for their core. I
think it is FreeBSD....
  Almost all programs that compile for Linux will for BDS too.
Mostly because about the only thing differnet is the kernel. The
libraries, compiler and utils are all the same code. With Linux and
BSD you are compiling against those libraries in user space. The
libraries are accessing the kernel.
