I tried to use Partition Magic and for some strange reason
it was unable to modify the disk partitions. Some thing about
denied access to the hard disk. I'll try ti again and see if
I can record the actual error message.

Well, if you get frustrated and want to try another tool, try Acronis
Disk Director (US$50).  I use it and like it.

Worked like gangbusters. Thanks Russell. Apparently it boots
a small Linux operating system. Ironic that it takes Linux to
fix windows :)

There are two parts. True Image 9.0 is the back up image to the
350 gig USB NetDisk. That cost $49.95. That is what I did first.
It also works with Linux.

Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 $39.99 is the partition sofware and
that was so automatic it was amazing. It just asked me
what partition I wanted to make larger and bingo it took
care of everything. I now have 67 gig total and 31.9 gig free.
It also works with Linux.

It even has a sector editor. I have not seen a sector editor
since XTree Gold for DOS. For those of you that don't know
what a sector editor is I'll tell you. One can edit individual
bytes of data anywhere on your hard disk. The power of a sector
editor is unlimited. It will also screw up your hard disk
in an instant of you change the wrong byte :)
