This is one of the few magic gas savers that sounds plausible.
I am no chemist but, as I understand it, platinum is a catalyst
and as such is not actually consumed in the burning of fuel.
Platinum spark plugs seem to have worth and platinum catalytic
converters work for sure to reduce hydrocarbon emissions.
If this works maybe platinum coated rotors would help.
Seems to me the mixture must be leaned to take advantage
of this. More fuel burned in the combustion chamber... more
air must be introduced.

However platinum is around $900 an ounce.

As I recall, for a platinum coating to make any difference, temp has to
get serious (+1700F?) w/ lots of surface area.  Neither are ideal to do
on a piston.

As for the gismo that adds platinum to the air for better combustion,
until someone serious does real testing, I'll rank that up there w/
strapping magnets on your fuel line to "re-arrange the molecules" for
better combustion....
