I agree wholeheartedly that Mazda and its corporate owner, Ford, would be
smart to develop their rotary engine for aircraft use. This is a piece of
intellectual property with an untapped market just waiting for it.

Honda's jet is another matter altogether. Jets are sexy and get wide media
play, especially when a well-known corporate name is involved.

Never the less somewhere between 100,000 and 700,000
people show up for OSH each year. Ford would spend next
to nothing by linking the rotary powered aircraft with the RX8.

Gordon has a point there; Ford quit F-1 racing, with cost versus return, if
any, probably being a big part. Honda has spent many millions and this one
jet probably has gotten them much greater exposure in this country than what
they spend for tires and/or brakes in F-1.

But, I also agree, not that that
would make a tinkers dam to anyone but me, that Ford is Stupid, with capital
S,  to not round up every Mazda engined anything there and give them a
freebie of some sort to park around Mazda's stuff. I can't understand why
they don't have somebody to acquire and develop some star wars looking
creature like 'the accipiter ' to try and get the same kind of coverage,
strongly support/fund Mistral; and/or, at least,  get Perry Mick to go back
to ducted and park there. (I'll volunteer much cheaper than a F-1 drivers
salary to all of the above. - <g>) Cost versus benefit would be outstanding.
Perhaps, after Ford goes down the old proverbial tube, Mazda, if surviving,
can show a little sense and innovation on their own. hope. hope.
