I believe the rotary is the better engine, especially when we work out
the aluminum end plates. I must correct some misconceptions though. The
new LS-1 engine is a very nicely built engine as V8 piston engines go.
The bottom end is beefed up considerably from the cast iron small block.
The engine uses a full skirted lower end with 4-bolt cross bolted mains
stock. Looks like a miniature version of the Chrysler Hemi. All very
nice of course but we aren't really interested in Chevys here anyway.
Besides there is still the limited area of the standard rods...etc. I'm
amazed that the RX7 conversion idiot thought it would be better with the
chevy! If the dope had put half as much into uprating the rotary as he
spent on the conversion he probably could have doubled the V8s numbers
and had money left over!

A kid at the engineering school here at the University of Missouri
put a V8 in his RX8. He turboed the 13b and blew it up. The machinist
that told me about it, says "it is real dependable now, it never has a
problem". Like it wasn't before, at least before he boosted it.
