Hi Paul
Here are the pictures of my cooling system and the plane.
Changing from inside air to the engine to outside added 500 rpm to the
previous max. in flight of 5400.
Changing the 68X86 Prince P tip prop. to a 68X78 P P tip took the rpm to
7200 at 150knots. Previous was 140knots.

The cooling was better with the new prop. Around 100C (212) for both oil
and Evans Plus. At full throttle.
The next step is to redo the [carb air] inlet duct as the temporary one is quite
restrictive, only 50mm diameter from the throttle body 75mm.
I will make a fiberglass ram air snorkel.
How big should I make the inlet to the ram scoop?

Note: Please hold the emails after the 11 th as I am off to Melbourne. I
was going to pop into Cobra but perhaps that might not be such a good
idea now.

I think you went over board reducing the prop pitch. You may have to
increase the pitch again when you fix the intake manifold and or
the ram carb air scoop.

Hard do say on the cooling without seeing some more pictures.
What do the exit ducts look like? Do you have a cowl flap? You may
have high cooling drag. What does the back of the muffler look
like in relation to the back of the cooling rad? A sketch
from you might help on this.

I am reluctant to say this and I am sure you would be reluctant to
change the engine to p-ports :) Lets work on the drag first :)

BTW sorry about Cobra but if they are smart they will accept
criticism and fix the problems. I would be brave and visit
if I were you :) Besides I could use some more pictures :)
