What is the gear ratio between the old distributor shaft and e-shaft?
1:1?
Wondering if it is suitable for a spare alternator location.
DougFir
I think it is one to one. No need for a half speed distributor
as the 2 rotor engine fires twice per rev. The problem might be the
shaft and gear will not transmit a lot of HP.
A 50 amp distributor is almost one HP input.

How much do you think an oil pump would use if you were running ATF for an
independant PRSU system ?
John
Good question. I have no idea without a lot of details and then I
would need to do some researh on the subject. Do you have a drawing
of the PSRU?
Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
Tracy's 2.85:1, Mazda engine oil pump internals mounted to CAS base, in
custom housing with custom shaft.
Advantages
ATF instead of engine oil.
Less heat transfer.
Disadvantages
More complicated.
More failure points.
Worthwhile or just get on and build the damned plane ?
John
CAS base?
I think I see the point. You don't want to use engine oil
to lube the PSRU. Good idea as any contaminate from the PSRU
parts does not get into the engine oil pan. Also the PSRU
would probably run cooler.
I am guessing but I would say it would be less than one HP.
If you are going to build your own PSRU case and shaft I suggest
something like this. It is basically a copy of the Lycoming engine front
case and crankshaft. Allows the use of a relatively low
cost hyd constant speed prop. It is also a low tech approach
with proved A/C old technology. Bearing shells and some seals
are off the shelf. It is very much like a GTSO 520.
