Were the welds heat normalized afterwards??

Is there any safety reason that the stock Renesis header would not be an
appropriate starting point for an exhaust system? It aims in the right
direction for a pusher and the factory welds appear fantastic.

I cut off the air injection tubes (that run in-between the exhaust ports
in the cast flange), and cut the outer steel shell off right after the
downward bend begins.  This is about 4" from the last exhaust port.
This results in an 8 lb header, including the factory heat shields.

I found the inner, stainless steel exhaust tubing is about 2 3/4"
diameter and is designed to move freely inside the outer shell.  It has
a slip joint just after the downward bend.  I'm planning on working with
Ed to pipe this into a VAM muffler.
