Paul, I am finally back from Iraq and you can use my RD-1B, but only if
I get to be first on the list to buy a prop if everything checks out on
the engine stand. I do have the new Radiator to mount and the Starter
is the main clearance obstacle.
Don't forget that my spacers are a little unique, they will require the
additional space provided by that aluminum plate that you were going to
trim down for me on your new band saw (any luck with that by the way?
I am flying a cardinal to Mammoth the evening of Friday the 15th and can
drop it off in Santa Paula or Camarillo on my way up (or on the way
back
on Sunday evening). Or you can come pick it up if you want. Or even
better, if Perry can wait until I get the Rad positioned (a couple of
months), then he can have it until I get closer to next flight (Spring
or Summer).
Whats this about a pusher configuration? Did you get a new plane or was
that Perry talking about his?

Dave, here is what your adapter plate looks like.
Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
Thanks Paul, That looks great. I should have weighed it before hand to
see how much weight I saved.
BTW, You will be pleased to know that the little bit of cooling woes
will be gone next time I fly. I have a new custom radiator that is the
same surface area as the last, but is 1/2 in thicker in core. Also, I
will be feeding it with 100% fresh cool air from a dedicated scoop.
There will be cowl flap to keep things warm if need be.
My new temp red line will be 190 for coolant and 210 for oil. I
am hoping that I will be able to run 40" continuous and still keep
things cool. I wish we didn't have to wait a year to find that out
though.
