Paul, I Have 19 tension bolts in my engine ,all of which are in use.
Does this mean the housings are not suitable as p-port housings.Also I
included one of my apex seals. Can you tell by the pic if it is a
factory Mazda seal or after market.

Your engine was built by Darryl Drummond as I recall.
Darryl is highly thought off in the rotary engine racing world.
I assume it is a 13b. Darrel also builds a lot of 12A.


Later rotor housings do not have that tension bolt.
I see no reason why you need it.

That looks like one piece apex seal. That is a positive thing for our use.
Does it look like cast iron or steel? I don't think Mazda made
one pieces seals in metal. I could be wrong. Perhaps the racing
division sold them. I do believe they made some one piece seals
in carbon aluminum however.

I hope you know where each seal came from
exactly as many racing builders adjust the length of the one
piece seals to fit. To figure this out uses a 2 to 4 inch
micrometer and measure the length  each apex seal.

Are they 2 mm or 3 mm thick? If it is an after market
seal I am sure it is OK based on Darryl's reputation.

Was there some reason you took the engine apart?
As I recall the former owner never flew it.
It looks brand new.
