This is for those people that want to save a couple hundred
   on a custom oil pan and use a stock oil pan. This is near
   identical to the way the Questair bed mount is done for the
   air cooled Cont. IO-550 AC engine. This bolt pattern is for an
   RX8 engine but the same idea is used for a 2nd gen or 3rd gen
   engine.

   What does everybody think of this? In particular what
   do you think Jerry? Does it add so much to the cost that
   a custom aluminum oil pan is still worth while?

   FWIW There was a Questair Venture at Reno running the Sport Class this
   year. It was really moving too. They finished 8th in the Gold race.
   (Last in the division, but the Gold race after all) They were running
   around 320 if I remember correctly.

   After a 12 second penalty pushed back Darryl's plane to second Sharp
   won
   with the NXT. John Parker (Thunder Mustang) and Darryl's pilot, (sorry
   can't recall his name) were going at it until Parker had a problem and
   pulled up on the last lap and he finished third. The NXT was running a
   comfortable third throughout the race and got handed the race at the
   end.

Parker's Falconer V12 was in the shop over the summer...  They put dual
blowers on it - don't know what style..  They've had problems with it
throwing the blower belts.  That's what happened after a couple of laps
in the Sunday Gold.  I watched him run laps in the mid 380's on Saturday
- about 20mph faster than anybody else.  Didn't seem to be breathing
hard.  On Sunday, even with the engine pulling air past the blowers, he
was running pretty fast, 320's I think.  I think that was without nitrous..

Sharp's airplane was supposed to get a race-prepped, 'high tech' engine
from Lycoming.  They had problems with that engine, so Sharp was again
running an essentially stock Lyc TIO540 (with mags).  I think they
turned the governor up a bit, but that's about it.  That put him into
the 360's (again)..

Not sure how Dan Wright is doing.  When I saw him run on Saturday, he
seemed to be flying a very high, conservative line - easily flying an
extra half mile per lap.  I think he DNS'ed on Friday because he had a
blown (Wix - racing) oil filter just after startup.
