I've been messing with Rhino. The scoop is what I have in mind to
house my radiators and oil cooler. I plan on putting an augmenter
in there somewhere. Can you give me an idea of the optimum scoop
layout in other words is this one going to work? I want to use
the two radiators forming a wedge like a greater than sign
I know the drawing is a little rough. I don't have a full grasp
on Rhino yet still importing parts from Auto Cad.

Tony

You are getting pretty good with Rhino Tony.
That scoop will work fine. Where is the air coming out after
it passes through the rads? At least as important as
how it gets in.

Paul

the idea is to have the augmenter in the scoop so the exit to the
air is going to be just under the prop flange. think of it like
a turboprop facing backwards only instead of intake air it will
be exhaust gas pulling air thru the front of the scoop thru a
duct between the tires and then out the back of the airplane.
the only thing is I'm not sure exactly how an augmenter works.
I mean I know what it does but the shape eludes me. Kinda of
a Brunelli thing right? I'm sure you can help me with that.

Tony

What are the dimensions of the duct between the tires?

If you have a side view in Rhino put some dimensions
on it and turn on dimensions in the rendering program,
render it and up load it to us. Same for a top view.
That way we can check scale and figure other dimensions.

Does not look like you have a whole heck of a lot of
room to get much air past that landing gear.

It looks like you have the landing brake covered by the gear.  I find you
really need that landing brake to get slowed down on landing or you use a
lot of runway.

I don't think you need a large air intake.  The prop helps pull a lot of air
through the cowling on my Long Ez.   My setup has  a NACA on the belly and
one small intake on the top right cowling for my radiators.  The oil cooler
has a scoop on the lower left cowling.  No cooling problems after first 5
hours of flight testing.
