I haven't seen this posted before. The RX8 exhaust manifold is double
walled with air space between besides having a bolt on heat shield. Karibian

I got a stock manifold with my Renesis engine.  It has an inner,
"floating" tube of thin stainless, then a thicker steel outer shell and
a heat shield.  The whole thing weighs about 15 lb.  I cut mine down
just after the first bend, which removes the last foot and the
very-heavy flange.  If one cuts just the outer shell, the inside tube
will stick out about 2", which is the location of its normal slip joint.
 I also cut the excess iron out from between the flanges (the hot air
ports), and ended up right at 8 lbs total.

The manifold is pointing in the right direction for a pusher
configuration, which is good for my case.

I'm working with Ed to pipe the exhaust into a muffler (probably VAM
style), then an exit pipe.
