Hi Bill,
I like the idea that the sliding block does not have the float valve
that worried you. If it worries you, then it worries me!
Does the Lectron have a float bowl?

Dave,
The Lectron has a conventional float bowl. The unique part of the carb
is that it uses a single, specially tapered central needle for all fuel
distribution. (idle to WOT) This is why I believe Pauls idea about
the Slide Throttle carburetor could be made to work. The only concern I
have for float systems is that they must be kept supplied with fresh
CLEAN fuel. There are many good filters, and running one is needed on a
carb system. You need to fly regularly to be sure the fuel doesn't get
old and produce "gum" by having the light ends evaporate off.

This system is easy enough to check on the bench.
You set it up with a typical head of fuel and
use a calibrated beaker to measure the flow as a function
of slide position. Same thing goes for the leaning valve.

One can always heat the slide plates to 200 F with
a hot air blower. I also have a vacuum pump that can
be used.
