    Hello Paul,

    This is what I plan to do as fuel system:

    In Canada we must have a gascolator, a valve to cut fuel from each tank,
    a filter in front EFI pumps and a primer pump in front of EFI pumps.

    Basically, I draw fuel from the left tank and when fuel is getting low I
    turn the right ball valve on and start the right Facet pump running
    from the
    right side and filling the left tank. When level is fine I turn off the
    right Facet and the right ball valve.
    The left Facet is off unless fuel pressure is low, climbing and
    landing. If
    the right Facett fails when filling the left tank then I would turn
    off the
    left facet pump if it is on and the left ball valve to make sure the
    fuel is
    pulled from the right tank.

    Can you see problems with this system?

    It is too hard to manage fuel using this system. Too prone
    to pilot error.

    You are returning fuel to only one tank. The left side.
    If you withdraw fuel from just the right tank you will
    rapidly run out of fuel in that tank or pump fuel overboard
    through the left tank vent line. As much as 80% of the fuel
    is returned in some circumstances.

    You need a TWO level valve that switches both the feed
    AND the return lines so fuel is always returned to the
    tank it is drawn from.

    Don't nickel and dime the fuel system plumbing. Spend some money
    and get the right two level valve.

    If you have a pusher system you need one or two properly designed
    sump tanks as well.

    Engines stop for two main reasons. Lack of fuel and lack
    of spark. Don't get creative with the fuel plumbing.
    Use what is proven to work.

    BTW please don't send doc files. Screen capture them and send
    them as jpg's.

I figured I'd go really simple and copy Tracy Crook's system- take the
fuel out of  and return to the left tank,  and use a pump to transfer
fuel out of the right tank to the left. The  worst that can happen is to
transfer too much over to the left tank and pump the excess overboard.
Then you are left with the right tank empty and the left tank full.
(Unless someone can see some other scenario that I have overlooked)

I've got one of Bulent's 6 port valves left over, so any offers  on it
will be considered.

That is fine as long as you don't get distracted and let
it pump fuel overboard.

Another scenario is if the right tank vent is pointing forward
it will empty the right tank to the left tank and force all fuel
out of the left tank vent in short order at over 150 MPH.

The safest thing to do is keep that valve you have and use it.

The first system is very similar to Tracy's fuel system.
Run from the left tank, refill using the right tank.
The difference is I must activate a ball valve and switch
on / off the fuel pump, Tracy only has to switch on / off his
fuel pump.

Here is the second system I am considering, the disadvantage of it
I thought was the booster pump is further away from the tanks.
Also I thought I needed the ball valves anyway to shut off tanks in
case of emergency.
Can I use the Andair as fuel selector and emergency fuel cut off?
Also is one booster pump enough?

That is much better. If you mount the high pressure pumps down
low and as close to the fuel tanks as you can get them you won't
need the boost pump. Just another part to fail and suck down
battery current.

Place the HP pumps immediately after the Andair
valve on the floor just in front of the spar. Keep all
the plumbing as low as you can get it in this area.
The HP pumps will self prime.

Watch that Andair valve. Some of the ones from a few
years ago had very weak detentes. It was easy to
push or hit it and move it to the 45 degree position.
If that happens your engine will quit if one tank is empty.

Bulents valve is heavy but it has very strong detentes.
