With all due respect guys you are wasting your time and money.
You are reinventing the wheel and solving a problem
that does not exist. It is easy to inspect the gear box by
checking the back lash from time to time. Takes 5 seconds.
Worse case the Ford planet wears out
every 100 hours. Since it cost about $100 for the complete
set it is cheap enough to replace. 3,000 TBO hours is
60 years of flying for the average private pilot.
Mistral must claim that for marketing reasons.

If you want to do something useful add a constant speed
prop feature and keep the highly automated, mass produced
and dirt cheap Ford planet set. Or come up with a way of reducing
the weight of the box or both.

I couldn't agree more with the above statement.

Designing a planetary gear box is no easy task, or any gear box for that
matter.
Buy something existing and you are done with. And its much cheaper too.
You could never build it for the cost of a mass produced article. And
furthermore, you know it has been proven.
Designing your own is very risky. I would not trust myself to do it. It
probably comes out heavier too.
