Do you see any reason why I can't use the shaft that turns
the oil metering pump to drive a mechanical fuel pump. What
I would like to do  is have a mechanical pump and an electric
boost pump. I'm thinking of using that Ellison 4-5 throttle body.
Now if I could just figure out how to run a mag on this thing.

     Yes that should work.
     Kinsler has mechanical fuel pumps.

Paul and Tony,
I would avoid using the oil pump drive for a mechanical fuel pump.
Unless you are talking about a low -pressure automotive (carb) pump. If
it's a MFI pump it has higher HP requirements than I'd trust to the oil
pump drive. The requirements for the oil pump are low due to the very
small amount of oil it must move. Think about the volume, around 100X
less than a fuel pump right?

It would be low pressure if it were for the Ellison.
The drive shaft design is also over kill. But to be on the safe
side drive it with a cog belt and then you can control
the pump RPM, pressure and volume of fuel supplied
by changing the pulley ratio.

But isn't fuel far less viscous than oil? why would it require more HP?
Plus! the oil metering pump pushes that oil into very small jets right?
Is it atomized to a degree or is it like a drip system?
