The Rocket Man at the Rose Parade was based on the old Bell hydrogen
peroxide design. Vance was involved/directed  the current update of that
design. As mentioned the owner of the project/product gave a description
and had a video of the project at EAA. Maybe someone has a link to his site.

The Swiss with the jet-powered wing wears a parachute and jumps from an
airplane.  He unfolds the wings, starts the model jet engines, flys about 6
1/2 minutes, and uses the parachute for landing.  He has info in English:

There seem to have been several efforts along this line.  Back in the early
80's a fellow named Nelson Tyler, a specialist in movie camera work, built
one of these things and I know it was flown a number of times.
