Speaking of the single e-shaft - this information comes from ME and MY
research of having the Mazda e-shaft extensively ( read expensively)
tested
and also having a number of EXPERTS in the field of metallurgy provide
their opinion.
Now when you feel you have the expertise and have spent the money on
testing
please feel free to provide the outcomes of your testing.
BTW X-treme has followed the same path as myself in this regard and
has come
to a similar conclusion. Casting is by far the cheapest way to go with
crank
shaft - do X-Treme go that way, the answer is a definitely NO!!!
The Premo way of producing cranks is as Paul suggested and that is
Forging.
I could go on about this but it would be lengthy - suffice to say that
not
all metals are what they used to be.

The single eshaft when cut from a twin eshaft has less bending moment
than the twin since it now has a main bearing on each side of the
rotor. So it follows that it should be a stronger application than the
twin. No?
As regards "experts" I would respectfully suggest that Mazda, better
than anyone you or I consult, know what their eshafts can and cannot
do.
I first visited Xtreme Rotaries (Guru Racing) 4 years ago, You had not
heard of them then; it was me who directed you to them. They are in the
business of selling aftermarket parts to performance car buffs; that
is hardly our game. Guru were developing the single to run in small
sedan racers, turboed at 10,000 rpm +
I again make the simple point, in our operating envelope, there is no
history of failure of Mazda eshafts.
I do not understand your remark "not all metals are what they used to
be" How do I use this "gem" and how does it apply to Mazda eshafts?
