"The roll Royce Wankel diesel engine R6. Chamber volume of the first
stage 3250 ccm, chamber volume of the second stage 1265 ccm. Since
one recognized early that the Dieselverfahren could be carried out
only heavily with a unit, one built group engines with roll Royce.
The R6 developed 1972 and brought an achievement of 350PS with
4500 Upm. The consumption minimum was with 2500-3500 Upm with
220g/kWh (161g/PSh). The runners were oil-cooled, the chambers
water-cooled."

I have never been able to find much info on this diesel Wankel.

In your opinion how does the fuel consumption compare with similar HP
diesel recips ?

What, in your opinion, is the reason this program did not continue on .... ?

Have you ever found any SAE or technical papers on these
RR developmental engines ?

No I don't think I have. Norbye mentioned it in his 1972 book.
One of the very interesting things about it is it was mechanically
turbocharged to coin a phrase. The waste exhaust gas helped drive the
geared Wankel compressor.  "4400 RPM. One quarter the size of a
comparably piston diesel and much less weight." I suspect flame
travel speed did it in for such a large combustion chamber.
