Help and criticism solicited.....

History:

GlaStar kit purchased in Mar 1999..... made it through the Stoddard Hamilton bankruptcy.  Built kit and put 10,000$ on a NSI Subaru kit while deployed to Afghanistan after 911....... long wait, NSI goes under and left with out.  Think about the Eggenfellner and stumble onto the Mazda rotary.

Now I have to make a confession, I did not do enough research into the Rotary before I made a commitment to the Renesis engine(I wanted an engine to get plane flying).  So go easy on me, I know I should have gone with a 13B P Port with a slide throttle.

Reality:

I have:

Renesis 4 port crate converted to Aviation by Bruce Turrentine.
Ceramic coated rotors.....  (I know shouldn't have done that)

2.85:1 Crook PSRU, and EFI Ignition control unit for Mazda injectors.

Fred Breese engine mount(Plate)

Challenges:

Oil pan... what is adequate where to get and oil pick up considerations

A.Pick up at the back of the pan. Custom pan three or four
inches deep to solve the RX8 oil foaming/breathing problem.

Oil cooler.... what and where
A. Any good after market oil cooler. Pressure test to 300 psi.
Two to three hundread cubic inches.

Oil filler.... too high, can I cut down....
A. Yes no problem with the oil pan mod.

Oil filter.... too high can I relocate(remote mount)
A. Use a bypass block bolted on and plumb to a filter mounted
on the firewall.

Alternator.... too high, can I side mount and not interfere with timing(?) pickup. Any plans for side mount Renesis..... New size belt would be needed
A. Side mount the alternator. See the web site for picts and
dwgs. http://www.rotaryeng.net

Cooling mast.. too high, mod??
A. Yes can be cut down and the thermostat done away with.
Use cowl flaps to control the eng. temp.

What is the optimum evaporator and brand(600 sq"?) Mount planned
for under engine with smiley face inlet, Thermostat needed?
Plan for cockpit heater.... I am in Alaska ;-)
A. Don't use evap cores. Use one large rad 600 cubic inches
or more if you plan on flying to the lower 48 under the engine.

Intake........ to high, how to modify to get optimum.... 20-25"
length and still get air to throttle body(how to modify)
A. Pictures on the ACRE NL web site but you will get better
results with a p-port. Contact me later and I will see what
we can do together.

Fuel injection... How to set fuel rails... two needed for Renesis?
Return line planned to a spirotherm to remove air bubbles and
obviate need for return to fuel tank or header tank.
A. One rail, four high flow injectors if you use a p-port.
No effective  way around the EFI return flow unless you want
to experiment with the constant dribble, low pressure, mechanical
fuel injection.

Exhaust....  need to find pattern to build exhaust manifold for
Renesis and muffler
A. Almost anything will work if made from 321 SS or Inconel and
properly welded. DO NOT weld the pipes on the outside of the flange.
ONLY weld them on the inside close to the RX8 end housings.

Prop..... Vesta in-flight adjustable 82", (I am on 26" Goodyear blimp tires and planning float operations)

Stuff I forgot.....???????

Thanks for any suggestions, criticism or general comments.
