Hello everyone i guess I will introduce myself. My name is Robert
   Sando.I
live in Delaware. I am building a 4 place vision from
www.visionaircraft.com. I initially was interested in using a Subaru
conversion in my airplane because I thought the rotary wouldn't make
   200hp
but after more reading I found out how much power can be made with a
   13b or a
renesis. I thought that I understood the operation of the Wankel until
looking at this animation. After careful study it looks to me like the
combustion chamber is the depression in the rotor face. Is this true?

Well to make 200 HP with a RX8 high power side port
motor you need a 2.85:1 PSRU and it will be just 200 HP
at around 7000 RPM. Your intake manifold must be just so.

Don't fool around and be disappointed. You will be sure to
get much more than 200 HP with a p-port RX8 motor or other
   Mazda rotary.

Yes the combustion chamber is in the rotor face.

Robert, I thought the Vision spec'd in a 120 HP powerplant?

Paul, This rotor animation has a link (blue) from the shaft to the rotor
apex that goes "thru" the shaft at every revolution.  What am I looking
at here?

Yes and that is not the way it is. The trouble with the
eccentric animation is it is hard visualize the eccentric
moment arm where as this one shows it clearly.
