Paul,
Your diagram reminded me of a question Ive had- Is there a reason why the
radiator is tilted backwards vs a forward tilt?  Id think a forward tilting
rad would help clean the flow of the exit air out of a rear cowl exhaust
vent.  The current orientation seems to direct the air up, more into the
firewall area and therefore require another turn of the airflow to get it
out of the plane.  Ar possible advantage of the lower routing might also
involve cooling the exhaust pipes/muffler.

We used to do it that way to keep the volume of the cowl
down but we need all the cooling we can get so we tilted it down
and bring the air in over the top of the rad in this 3D. That means
the wedge diffuser shields the rad from the hot engine compartment.
Each degree F increase in incoming air temperature reduces the
cooling by 1 percent. You need to feed the rads with the coolest
air you can get.
