I do not have a shaft with hardened journals yet. I am still using the
one
with the roller bearing sleeve.
My plans are induction hardening for the final version. One place I know
of
doing it is in Raleigh, NC. When I get to that point, that is the place I
am going to start with. I still have to find their address.

Hi Richard,
can you identify the roller bearing sleeve, like a part number, or
what it was used in, or a size. Any info I can give to the bearing
suppliers to buy one.
TIA, Dave McC
Dave,
the roller bearing sleve is a metric INA, however, it is only 30MM(there is
no longer one) long with the same diameter as the MAZDA bearing. I am going
to a longer bearing on the final shaft configuration. The sleve was good
enough for the prove of principle engine, but I woud not want to fly with
it. It is a good solution, in principle, but getting to the right bearing
size was not a practicle soluton in my case.
I intend to run the engine with this bearing a lot longer on the test stand,
but it will not stay.
