Can a RX-8 oil inj. port be used as a fuel inj. port?

Interesting idea. Perhaps it will work. Four FI ports
so it has the redundancy required.

Does any one have information about the possibility of using the oil
injection in port being used as a fuel injection in port on a RX-8 engine?
It would appear that a small fuel injector can be installed in the oil
injection in port, without modification of the rotor housing, but am not
certain what is down stream in the rotor housing. Any help would be
appreciated! bmb

The real question is are the ports big enough at the inside? If they are
using the same thread and you plan to mix oil in the fuel they should
work. You might have to open the port up on the inside of the rotor
housing to allow the fuel enough room to atomize. The holes are near the
side of the housing which might cause rough running at low speeds due to
the fuel and air not mixing as well. That is the biggest problem I could
think of.

I would think several problems might arise: The oil injection holes on the
inside liner of the housing are very small, would have to be enlarged
significantly, the location on the housing would mean a totally different
timing of the fuel injection -- does this matter, I don't know, no intake
manifold air is coming past the oil injection port, so atomization/mixing
will be a problem.

My opinion is worth what you paid for it :-)
