This probably belongs on the Art Bell late nite radio show but is very
interesting nevertheless.
This is fueling ICE engines with actual water. This is NOT electrolysing
water into hydrogen and oxygen prior to to combustion (very expensive),
rather utilizing a little known "exploding water"
technique based on a high capacitance discharge in water vapor. It is
essentially the same
reaction that occurs in a thunderstorm with lightning and thunder.
A mechanic claims to be running his 1978 Chev El Camino with 350 Ci engine
that is running
on only water, getting over 300 mpg and has put over 30,000 miles on the
car
to prove it.
A straight carburetor is used with larger jets. Also, spark voltage has
been increased from
14,000 to 30,000 volts and timing fires about 20-30 deg after TDC.
It occurs to me the rotary could be a very suitable testbed for this
technique as one of
the problems has been rusting valve stems and poor oiling of valve guides.
Another problem
is short spark plug life.
One of the peculiar features of this setup is the routing of the exhaust
pipe right into the
fuel (water) tank!
