I'm not that I can see, Paul...
Using windows XP, with Thunderbird for my email, and all of your
photos are shown as attached files in the status bar at the bottom,
but are displayed within the body of the email, as if they are
embedded, so I don't have to select them to view them. I think this
action is selectable somewhere.
I also have set the option to open them in other programs, such as
graphic programs, .doc and power point readers by clicking on the
item listed in the status bar if they don't open in the email body.
Again this is selectable in the tools menu lists.
I see the status bar can be turned off as well, so it would probably
help if that was activated.

I can only cite the sorry state of early releases of 32-bit windoze
realizations - remember 2000 & its rather short lifespan ?
Lets do the smart thing & hang for service pack 2
at least arrrgghhhh ! I need to keep up & operational with win for work
- reasons but I draw the line at beta testing the stuff :^(
