They are attachments David. I don't follow you on this.
Save them and open them with something other than your email
program or a Windows viewer. Try MS Paint.

The thing about windows compared to Linux  as far as graphics
is concerned every Linux comes with some very powerful graphic
manipulation programs such as xpaint, gimp and xv for free.

Um they turn up as a single Graphic in Lotus notes
and are embedded rather than attached.

It seems to vary wildly  when emails from the newsletter turn up as to
whether they were
simply dragged into the email or the "paper clip" or similar type  symbol
was used to
attach them. One type is actually embedding them, the other way  attaches
them.BTW
I'm using Linux with Lotus notes and Lotus notes on Windows as well  both
behave
exactly the same way, sorry to disappoint you about OS's. In this  it not
relevant.

Also is a single graphic rather than 4 separate ones looking at the  base
email it shows
only one graphics not 4 separate ones. It is actually the Higher
Resolution I'm after so
I can zoom in more.

OK I don't use Lotus notes so I don't have a clue. I always
attach the jpgs the same way using Thunderbird. Sometimes I process
them with gimp and sometimes I don't. Perhaps that is the key to
what is going on. I do the scanning with a Windows computer, HP
scanner and  transfer them with a USB 4 gig memory stick. I notice
that Windows cannot read the memory stick if the file is generated
on Linux but Linux can always read the file if generated on Windows.
I am begging to wonder if Microsoft has corrupted the jpg & file
standards some how like they did to HTML and JAVA. A lot of computer
problems would go away if Microsoft self destructed immediately
rather than later :)

Are any of you OSX (Apple Mac Gui on Linux base) having problems?
Are any of you Windows users having problems like this?
I also notice when using m-tools to transfer files that seems
to be more consistent most of the time but there is something
subtle going on there. If you use the same floppy disk over and
over again eventually it fails after a month or two.

Without the source code for Windows these bugs will never be fixed.
I would give up using computers if I had to use the new MS Vista.
I feel real sorry for anybody buying a new computer in the next
ten years that is forced to use MS Vista. It will be highly
bug infested. Computer makers are in for a hard time for
the foreseeable future. Customers won't know if it is
the hardware or the software and the computer maker will
not have the Vista source code to figure it out.

Sorry about the four by pictures but you can load them into
gimp and separate them by cropping them off one by one.
I have a zillion old pictures that I took at air shows before
I got a digital camera. It takes way too long to scan them one
at a time. Not worth it for me.

BTW David do you have Blackberry cell phones in Aus? If so does
it sync with Linux Lotus Notes?

I scan all these old pictures at the same rez or 200 pixels
per inch. If they are wider than 1900 pixels I scale them
down using gimp to 1900 wide max.
