They are attachments David. I don't follow you on this.
Save them and open them with something other than your email
program or a Windows viewer. Try MS Paint.

The thing about windows compared to Linux  as far as graphics
is concerned every Linux comes with some very powerful graphic
manipulation programs such as xpaint, gimp and xv for free.

I'm not that I can see, Paul...

Using windows XP, with Thunderbird for my email, and all of your  photos
are shown as attached files in the status bar at the bottom, but are
displayed within the body of the email, as if they are embedded, so I
don't have to select them to view them. I think this action is
selectable somewhere.

I also have set the option to open them in other programs, such as
graphic programs, .doc and power point readers by clicking on the item
listed in the status bar if they don't open in the email body. Again
this is selectable in the tools menu lists.

I see the status bar can be turned off as well, so it would probably
help if that was activated.

Vista will make the pain go away.  A little thing like not being able
to view attachments won't even get your attention.   Jerry (who

I read an "economic analysis" on Windows Vista. Vista will disable media
hardware unless it is certified "secure." Secure means that you can't
illegally copy "content." Apparently MS is allowing the content (movies,
audio) providers to dictate major parameters of the OS. How sad. I am hoping
MS really stubs its toe on this one. Maybe loose an arm and a leg.

Not for me! I will run XP so I can use Rhino. Linux for everything else once
XP is orphaned.
