That is a nice pan. I like the idea of cutting the flange so that the
pan just drops in.  I had not thought of doing it that way.   The
rolled ends on the bottom is a nice touch, too.   Is the flange/pan
weld on the inside?    Jerry



No, I just cut and fit the pieces. My attempts to gas weld aluminum only
succeeded in making big holes in it and now my right hand shakes so bad, when
I am working that I have to rest it on something and use my fingers to
control the welding rod. Writing is a two hand project.
The oil pan flange is made up of three pieces of 1 1/2x1/4 and one piece of
2x1/4 bar stock and the pan is 1/8 sheet aluminum. The pan part is placed
1/8 inch below the top of the flange and welded on the inside.
Why is the stock and performance RX8 exhaust manifolds welded on the
outside?  Karibian

Good question. No where near as durable as welding them
on the inside.
