Hi All - this is Laura Crook (probably violating some procedure on how
to post a message on a new topic -looking for forgiveness instead of
permission )

I've been emailing Patrick Panzera, who is the publisher of CONTACT!
Magazine.  He asked Tracy for an article on the rotary, which we have
submitted.  Ideally, Patrick would like to devote an entire issue of the
magazine (the issue just prior to Sun n Fun) to rotary engines in
aircraft.

*So..... If ANYBODY would like to write an article about flying or
building your rotary plane, we may be able to get enough information
together to have the whole issue.  Needless to say the timing - just
prior to Sun n Fun would be great.*

If you are interested in writing an article  please contact Pat at
panzera@experimental-aviation.com
<mailto:panzera@experimental-aviation.com>.  If you have any trouble
with that email address contact me at laura@rotaryaviation.com
<mailto:laura@rotaryaviation.com> and I'll hook you up with him.

Thank you Laura,

For those of you who are not familiar with CONTACT! Magazine, here's a brief
rundown.

We've been producing an advertiser-free, experimental aviation magazine
since 1991. It's by experimenters, for experimenters and not cluttered with
they typical stuff you see in the other magazines.

We feel strongly that it makes little sense to spend more on your powerplant
than on your complete airframe, and that auto-conversions and other
"alternatives" to the traditional Lycoming, Continental and Rotax
installations (just to name a few) are not getting the media coverage they
deserve.

Additionally, we are not afraid to print articles on planes that are not
considered a "10", and you don't need to have a $40k paint job, or $25k
glass panel to be featured or even end up on the cover.

We are 100% non-profit; no one on "staff" makes a dime. We all have day-jobs
and do this because we are passionate about our love for
experimental/amateur-built aviation.

Our lack of advertising affords us the editorial freedom to write anything
we want about any topic we please, w/o fear of retribution from advertisers.
Here's one such example:
http://www.ContactMagazine.com/Issue79/GaryWalshPage10.html ALL the other
magazines rejected this article, even though it was written and submitted by
Canada's "EAA" president. All the other magazines were carrying NSI
advertising at the time.

We can also devote as much space as we'd like to a single idea in order to
ensure our readers get the whole picture and have precious few questions
after reading the article. I remember reading about a turbine powered KR2 in
another magazine. I was FASCINATED with the premise and read the very short
article with gusto, wanting to know what propeller was installed. I know
from my own turbine experience that a constant speed propeller would be
needed. No such mention of the prop in the three page article, 1.5 of which
were photographs.

Sorry to be so long winded here, I just wanted to make sure my rotary
friends can feel welcome to submit an article w/o the usual constraints that
might make one feel too intimated to submit to one of the other magazines.

Here is an older issue (published in 2003) of CONTACT! for you to download.
It just so happens to have a Renisis article in it, one that I wrote
(basically plagiarized from multiple press packages) a little before the RX8
was officially on the market.

By the way... I've owned three 2nd gen 7's (one of which was a convertible)
and I currently drive an '04 RX8 (as well as an '05 "boinger" Mazda6) but
I've yet to get any stick time in a rotary-powered plane.

Thanks!!!
