This morning I launched my CZ for a 90 miles each way breakfast
flight from Fort Lauderdale Exec to Fort Pierce. Climbed to 6K feet
and leveled off on course. On climb my water temps went to 210 but
later in level flight came down to 160 water and 137 oil. Looks like
my oil thermostat does not work, and I may need a cowl flap on the
cooling intake?
The EGT was 1800, so I run rich and used lots of
fuel. Was at my destination after 37 minutes. We used to fly one
hour
on a rented C-172. Had breakfast at the Tiki Bar and in another 35
minutes I was back at FXE. Later on the way back got brave and
leaned a lot. it made big difference in the fuel burn.
I was flying
at 150Kts (173 MPH) average and 5200 rpm MP 24". My both landings
were cross wind and I did fine, considering that was only 4th or
5th landing on my own. Likeing the plane and the engine more and
more and I feel more relaxed. On return I took the cowling off
and everything was just the same as before the trip for a change :).
The annoying things:
The radio is as noisy as ever. Even the hand held was affected. This
evening Installed a large capacitor on the alternator and hope that
fixes it?
My EM2 red light blinks all the time, even if there is nothing on
the
screen that flashes? I wander if it is the fuel computer that shows
zero fuel remaining?? I never bothered to set it to full.
Looks like I'm seeing some light at the end of this long tunnel? PP
engine is next on my list (after the data logger) and I have started
collecting the parts for it. Looking for a rear 20B or Cosmo 13B
side
housing to fit my bell housing and starter.
That's all i can remember without a data logger :)

Thanks for the flight report and fine pictures Buly. IMHO you got
an easy best engine installation prize winner at Sun N Fun April
air show this year. Beautiful job on the engine.

Thanks for the compliment Paul, but I don't like to go to S&F or OSH.
Too big and has lost it's focus on experimental aviation. On top,
this year the flight line will be wide open to all. I have trouble
keeping people off my plane inside my hangar. Can't imagine what it
will be there with kids and thrill seekers for a week.
I go to only two places: Shady Bend FL and Rough River KY.

I agree with you on OSH but not Sun N Fun. I never see kids
crawling all over the airplanes. We have our own rotary row
to park at Sun and Fun and there are always rotor heads
around looking out for your airplane. Sun N Fun organizers do
their best to help us. They allow us to run our engines in
the work shop area and provide a whole half of a large tent
for rotary engines. This year it looks like Tracy will have
a running engine there showing off all his stuff. We have a couple
of rotaries that we can take apart and put back together.
I have two forums. How to Cool your Wankel and Turbo Compounding.
Robin has a couple and she will also be interviewing people
on the Sun & Fun radio. Unlike OSH Sun N Fun treats their
volunteers and forum givers well and with respect.
The runway at Lakeland is long and smooth unlike Tracy's place
so landing will be easy for a Canard. I would very much
like you to attend as your airplane is an excellent example
of how to do it right.
Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
Will talk about it on Saturday.

OK
BTW is your tiny URL permanent? I want to add it
to the list on the ACRE NL web site.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
Yes it is permanent, but the data on my web site is waaay out of
date. I'll have to update one day.
Buly
Well I updated the ACRE NL web site with the full url name and it
seems to work. Maintaining these things are almost a full time job.
I had to delete a few sites that no longer work and added a few
new ones. Next I will add your fine pictures to EXAMPLES OF ROTARY
ENGINE POWERED AIRPLANES.
