Hi,
Some questions:
Any advantage to using an under drive pulley in an aircraft
installation? Would it help with the higher constant RPM's I will be
running?
I have to move my alternator on my Renesis engine to the side, rather
than have it on top as it comes, when I do so I will have an
interference problem with the pulley belt and the crank angle sensor.
Can I use washers or a plate to move all the pulleys out to eliminate
the problem? Would there be any concerns doing this?
Does anyone know of a good oil filter relocation kit for the Renesis
engine?

Leave the engine pulley and the water pump as stock. Fit a smaller
alternater with a pulley the same size as the water pump. No don't
move the
pulleys out, it is not necessary. Side mount brackets are available,
try
Racing Beat or Guru in Australia.

Ian, Are you flying again? What did you do about your coils?
Tracy told me Corvette coils are the hot tip but he is using
RX8 coils on his 3 rotor.

I purchased two more coils from our friend Mr Mears at one third of
the cost
in Australia and moved all four to the front of the cowl with three air
holes to keep them cool. If they are mounted on top of the engine as
in the
picture they must be fed with a LARGE cooling blast. I have now burnt
out
four coil packs.
I am having fuel vaporising problems . The RX8 system that does not
circulate the fuel all the way to the injectors seems to be the
problem.
I am cutting vent holes in the cowl to try and keep the fuel cool. The
next
experiment will be with avgas to nail the problem.
7 months to build 12 months to debug.

Sorry to hear about that Ian. Do you have insulation
on the fuel lines? You are on the cutting edge of RX8
installers. It is also summer down there.

I'm surprised this isn't a problem in my RX-8. Under the hood is
certainly far from an ideal environment. I'm recirculating my fuel,
using insulated lines. I'm allowing for the two center (red) injectors
if necessary, but Tracy says they are not necessary. Still working
toward some dyno results when all the plumbing is done. Here is an
early pic of the intake manifold being built, with the upper and lower
fuel rails in place. The lower rail is mainly hidden.

Ian is in the outback basically and I imagine it can get
REAL hot in the summer. Here are some early pics. Return
fuel systems are notorious for heating the fuel. Also Ian's
fuel rail may be mounted in such a manner as to conduct heat
from the engine. One reason I like the PWM fuel pump scheme.
Ian, try drilling large holes in those fuel rail mounting
brackets to cut down on heat conduction.
